Eight-week sessions are offered, TUESDAY EVENINGS, beginning
at 6:30pm at the Captain's House in Goode Park, sponsored by
the Palm Bay Community Center. (321-952-3443). The Captain's
House is located at 1300 Bianca Drive, 1/4 west of US1 off Port Malabar
Road. Look for the sign for Goode Park and follow Bianca Drive to
the end.
Tribal Style Belly Dance is a broad category in the U.S. and
encompasses many different interpretations. This tribal belly dance
class focuses on group improvisation. The dancers
communicate with each via cues and transitions. It is an
American interpretation sometimes referred to as a fusion of different
styles from the Middle East, Africa, Asia, Spain and India but is not
considered to be traditional Middle Eastern Dance. The movement
vocabulary presented is influenced by the formats of
Gypsy Caravan and
Fat Chance Belly Dance
The Level 1 class will introduce students to the basic movements and
techniques of the Gypsy Caravan format of tribal style belly dance No experience
necessary. Level 2 continues to expand on tribal movement vocabulary
, leading and following, playing zills, group improv and choreo. Both
classes will also cover Middle Eastern
rhythms, essential for understanding the music and movements Classes are fairly
structured in content but do repeat each session.
The 8 week session is$70 (Palm Bay residents only ) or $80 (non
Palm Bay residents) . Class fees are payable in advance at the Palm Bay Community
Center, 1502 Port Malabar Road, 1 mile east of Babcock. Optionally,
session payment could be split into two 4 -class packages.
Students pre-paying for at least 4 sessions in advance get the $10 per
class rate. Otherwise the walk-in rate is $12.00 per class.
All transactions are done at the Palm Bay Community Center prior to class
time. No Money is collected at the Captain's House.

online. The option to pay online should only be used to pay for the ENTIRE 8
weeks session ($70/Palm Bay and $80.00/Non-Palm Bay) before the start of the current session. Please DO
NOT use this option to pay for an 8 week session AFTER the current session as
started.
Note: New students are NOT admitted to the current session after
Week 3.

classes are offered THURSDAY EVENINGS, beginning at 6:30pm at the Henegar
Center for the Arts in downtown Melbourne. 625 East New Haven Road.
The Technique 1 class is for beginners and the focus of this class emphasizes
proper alignment and posture, This class will focus on technique,
developing body awareness with the ultimate goal of establishing
a vocabulary of basic belly dance movements and combinations.
The Technique 2 includes reviews of Technique 1 and
introduces more variations, layering, rhythms, finger cymbals, and specialties
(sword, cane, drum solo choreography, folkloric dances)
Both classes can include
an overview and discussion of different styles of belly dance and a fusion of elements of
these various styles are covered. No tribal style
elements are presented in this class. Exploring basic
movements and adding variations, layering and stylizations and
isolation drills are the goals of
the class. For those who have danced before, emphasis will be refining
technique, introducing layering, and working on new skills, learning rhythms
and finger cymbals. For the beginning student, the foundation for proper dance
posture, body awareness, and technique will be emphasized.
Though the classes move at a fast pace, students are encouraged to work within
their own level.

TECHNIQUE 2 7:30 to 8:45pm
Instructor Approval
Classes can be purchased in 4 -lesson or 8 lesson-packages. All
transactions are made directly with the instructor, not the Henegar
Center. Check, cash, or PayPal
accepted. PayPal payment must be received prior to attending class. PayPal address is

issued a class card and will need to bring this to each class so that classes
are accounted for. Class cards expire 3 months from date of purchase, no
