HI !!!!!! Just a little
about me....
I have been dancing since 1998 and have studied and performed various styles of belly dance, including Raqs Sharki , Turkish, American Cabaret, and Tribal styles. My solo dance style is a fusion of many of the influences I have had. My studies have taken me around the country and in June 2007, I was lucky to go to the Middle East to meet great musicians and dancers. My focus as a teacher and troupe artist has been Tribal style group improvisation and I am certified to teach beginning level 1 and 2 in the Gypsy Caravan format. I continue to attend classes, workshops and conventions locally and out-of-state to continue to improve my skills and knowledge of the dance and its many facets and styles. I teach five classes a week covering general bellydance technique, fusion, Oriental, and tribal improvisation. In addition, I have studied African Dance and International Folk dancing. I love rhythm and percussion and I play doumbek, riq, frame drum and I recently have been studying the violin. I devote portions of my classes to learning basic Middle Eastern rhythms. I work with Bardic Productions in sponsoring drum workshops in our area and have studied with doumbek teachers locally and nationally at weekend seminars. I am a co-founding member of the percussion group KA specializing in a tribal Middle Eastern sound. As director of the student tribal troupe Adelpha now in its 4th year together, Adelpha promotes the spirit of improvisational tribal style and women dancing together and performs at haflas, bellydance conventions, charity events and festivals. As a troupe member, I have performed with A Magi Dance Company, Adelpha and Troupe Alemah and the Rhythm Herders.
As a soloist, my performances have included dance festivals, haflas, Middle Eastern and Greek restaurants, coffee houses, dinner theaters (5 years at Arabian Nights Dinner Theater in Kissimmee) and two appearances on the local Melbourne television station, Channel 13. I also am hired to do birthday parties, theme parties, debutante parties and weddings. Currently, I am involved with the American Belly Dance club as the public relations person, organizing haflas, workshops and monthly meetings. Thanks for stopping by..... Happy Dancing! Lisa (aka Lilith)
